We are using RJMetrics at the moment, but we are considering switching to a different tool. The best candidate is Chartio.

We’re currently using Domo. We were with RJMetrics, but it didn’t have the scalability that we needed. RJMetrics is great when you’re getting started; it has the right price and features that you need. But when your database gets really large, and you’re running many tables, it’s not scalable; at that point, you should move to something like Domo.

In the beginning, we used RJMetrics because we’re friends with the founder. It is really great for creating custom dashboards. We had to stop using them because there was a point where we were running low on capital, and had to cut out some tools. It’s not a knock on the business at all, it’s just extremely customized, so can be a bit expensive for smaller companies. Now we use Localytics and Google Analytics.

RJMetrics - Best BI / Analytics Tools for Startups

RJMetrics is a business intelligence and analytics service that combines the data across your business tools (like commerce platforms, email marketing tools, etc) to create a unified view of your company’s data. The software has an array of powerful visualization features like data cleansing, segmentation and a strong integration with Amazon Redshift, and offers collaboration through dashboards and mobile capabilities. RJMetrics is a good option for companies looking for a more hands-on service; for example, included in your subscription are a dedicated account manager and access to analysts who can look at your data and present their findings. This is a valuable addition for startups that don’t just want to see their numbers, but want a neutral third party to help make sense of the numbers and think more broadly about their strategic implications.

How startups use RJMetrics?

RJMetrics is used almost exclusively by midsized Series A startups that are looking for an analytics service component in addition to their dashboard. These startups want deeper, more custom analytics than Mixpanel can provide, but don’t yet have their own analysts in place like their larger counterparts.

How much does RJMetrics cost?

RJMetrics has a unique pricing plan for each customer, which tends to be a minimum of $500 per month.
