You have to have two accounts if you’re in different countries. So we have one Xero account for the US and another for the AU. Having two accounts is fine, but it would be good if there was a crossover for international companies. Other than that, Xero is easy to use and it’s affordable. I love their app! You can take photos of your receipts and attach it in their app, then our bookkeeper handles the rest.

It can handle a large number of transactions on multiple currencies. It is low cost, and easy to set up and use. We went from FreshBooks to Xero. FreshBooks was better for invoicing about 18 months ago, but Xero has caught up. FreshBooks does recurring and backend payment processing well, but couldn’t handle shopping cart features. FreshBooks is really better for smaller operations, that are invoicing for services. What’s nice about FreshBooks is that clients have their own login, and they can just log in and see what they owe. But since our members pay on credit cards, our invoicing needs went away when we moved to an ecommerce model, and we didn’t need FreshBooks anymore. We basically outgrew the backend accounting that FreshBooks is great for. We’re happy with Xero now.

We were thrilled when Xero came along, and we were one of their first customers in Utah. Xero rolled out state by state, and we were just waiting for them to get to Utah! We are absolutely happy with them. Their UX is the number one reason; it’s far more attractive and much more intuitive than QuickBooks. Xero has also proven to be much more innovative than QuickBooks; they frequently add helpful features and improve their product. And not being tied to a desktop accounting program is huge, especially when collaborating with remote bookkeepers and accountants.

There was a huge gap between Xero and everyone else at that time, and they were well above the curve. Xero is nice and simple. We use it for accounting and payroll. We have 2 offices, and Xero allows us to cover both of them in one platform.
We use Xero for accounting. We only use Xero for accounting, not invoicing, because Xero doesn’t allow for recurring payments. It is extremely frustrating. I read posts on their user forums at least once a week asking for recurring payment support. They should just set up an API with Stripe to support recurring payments! Xero also has really bad customer service.

Xero has been up and down. Initially, I really wasn't into it. I've come around, but I get the sense that an accountant designed the software. You can't ever really void anything, so you can’t just hit CTRL-Z to undo which takes some getting used to. We have it working now in a way that we’re happy with, but it wasn’t as plug-in-play and there were some setup costs the first month or so. I’d also love for Xero to be easier to integrate with the operational side of our business, but that seems to generally require add-ons which are relatively expensive and not necessarily worth it for us at this point So Xero has been good for accounting, but less useful for financial and operational analysis.
